Downtime Is Lead Time,
Not Labour Time

Fitting an industrial compressor is a known quantity. The unknown is whether the part is on a shelf in Dartmouth, in a warehouse in Ontario, or built to order in Europe with a lead time measured in months. We are direct about which of those you are facing on day one, and we work the problem from both ends — sourcing the correct component while working out what can keep the plant partly running meanwhile.

    Diagnose Before Ordering A failed compressor is often the symptom. We establish why it failed — oil return, liquid slugging, a stuck valve, non-condensables — so the replacement does not follow the original into the skip.

Straight Answers

What parts do you source and replace?

Screw and reciprocating compressors and complete packages, ammonia and CO₂ rated valves and valve stations, solenoid and expansion valves, pressure relief valves, oil separators and oil pumps, pressure vessels, evaporator and condenser fan motors, plate and shell-and-tube heat exchangers, gas detection heads, transducers and sensors, and control hardware from thermostats through to PLC modules.

How do you handle parts for obsolete equipment?

Three routes, in order of preference. Find genuine OEM stock, which for older industrial equipment more often exists than people assume. Identify a current-generation equivalent and adapt the mounting, piping or wiring interface. Or remanufacture the existing component where the casting is sound and it is the wear items that have gone. A great deal of legacy ammonia plant is kept running indefinitely this way, and it is usually far cheaper than replacement.

Should we hold our own spares?

For anything whose failure stops production, yes. The candidates are parts with long lead times and short failure intervals: evaporator fan motors, solenoid and expansion valves, common sensors, oil filters, contactors, and control boards specific to your plant. A compressor is rarely worth stocking, but the gasket and seal kit for it often is. We will go through your plant and produce a specific list rather than a generic one.

How quickly can you get a part?

Commonly held items — motors, valves, sensors, filters, contactors — are frequently available within a day or two through regional distribution. Specialist industrial items such as screw compressor packages, pressure vessels or proprietary control hardware can run to weeks or months. We give you the real lead time when we quote rather than an optimistic one, because your contingency planning depends on that number being honest.

Can you keep the plant running while we wait for a part?

Often, at reduced capacity. Multi-compressor plant can usually be reconfigured to run on the remaining machines, which may be enough to hold temperature in a full cold store even if it cannot pull down new product. Isolating a failed circuit, adjusting setpoints and rescheduling defrosts all buy time. We will tell you what capacity you realistically have and what it costs in running hours, so you can plan production around it.
