Refrigeration Installation
Sized to the Load

A cooler that was never sized to the product going into it will run flat out for a decade and still struggle in August. We calculate the actual load, specify from it, and commission the system properly before we hand it over.

Precision Installation

Specified From the Load,
Not From a Catalogue

Most commercial refrigeration complaints in the first year are install decisions rather than equipment faults. Product pull-down rate, door traffic, lighting and fan heat, and the ambient conditions where the condensing unit sits all change the size of the system you need. We work that out first, then choose equipment.

  • Load Calculated Before Anything Is Ordered Product mass and entering temperature, door openings per hour, infiltration and internal heat gain. It takes an afternoon and it decides how the system runs for ten years.
  • Remote or Self-Contained, Chosen Honestly Self-contained units are cheaper to fit and dump their heat into your kitchen. Remote condensing units cost more up front and usually win on running cost and comfort. We show you both.
  • Commissioned, Not Just Connected Pressure test, evacuation, weighed-in charge, superheat and subcooling set, defrost schedule programmed, and a pull-down run witnessed before we call it finished.

Common Questions

Straight Answers

How long does a commercial refrigeration installation take?

A self-contained reach-in or a drop-in condensing unit replacement is usually a day. A new walk-in with a remote condensing unit typically runs two to four days on site once the panels are up, and the schedule is driven by the electrical supply, the pipe run and the roof or wall penetration more than by the refrigeration work itself. We give you the sequence in writing so you can plan around service.

Should the condensing unit go on the roof, outside or indoors?

Outdoors or on the roof keeps compressor heat out of the kitchen and is normally the better answer in a food service space, provided the pipe run stays reasonable and the unit is specified for low ambient operation through a Nova Scotia winter. Indoors is acceptable where there is genuine ventilation and a shorter line set. Salt air is a real factor near the harbour, and coated coils are worth the small premium on exposed sites.

Can you install refrigeration without closing the business?

Usually. The disruptive parts are the electrical tie-in and the pull-down period, and both can be staged overnight or around a quieter day. Where we are replacing a working box, we normally keep the old system live until the new one is running and proven, then transfer product in one move.

Do you install equipment I have bought myself?

Yes, though we will look at the specification first and tell you plainly if the unit is undersized for the load or unsuited to the site. We would rather have that conversation before it is bolted down than defend a system that was never going to hold temperature.
